I don't use the monitor all the time (due to either laziness, lack of time or both), but it does indeed work. It interfaces well with the LifeCore programs with minimal fiddling, and it is interesting (and, I suppose, beneficial) to see just what is involved at maintaining an optimal heart rate for a prescribed period of time. The cooldown program is, well, pretty cool, in analyzing your recovery time and just how "fit" you are. The instruction manual provides optimal targets based upon your age, and the instructions make it sound more complicated than it is in practice. It is a bit of chore to strap on the monitor, make sure the contacts are in position, clean it up afterwards, etc., but this is inherent to all such wireless devices. That's the reason for only 4 stars; not the fault of the monitor, but of my own laziness. Is it essential to your workout? No. But, a nice addition that works well and provides another dimension to exercise. Anything that helps prevent boredom and provides a challenge is, in my opinion, beneficial.
Arrived at the same time as our LifeCore R100, more quickly than expected. No problems.
Comments about LifeCore Fitness Wireless Heart Rate Chest Strap:
This heart rate monitor chest strap has rubber nods where the strap makes contact with your skin. (Both sides of your chest) It rubs my chest and causes rubbing/discomfort to the point that I took it off before it chaffed my chest. Tried an electrode gel for lubrication, same result, took it off. Fortunatly my Polar chest strap is compatible with the rowing machine I purchased and I will not be using the chest strap that came with the machine

I use this product as a replacement for a power rider that broke and it does a good job of replacing my cardio portion of my workout program.

The wireless heart rate strap works reliably and accurately. It transmits heart rate data to both the rowing machine console and a Polar heart rate monitor.

While I haven't tried out many chest straps, I was pretty pleased with this one. You do notice its presence, but it doesn't restrict breathing. The only problem I had was that it would slide down to my stomach (but I'm also a really skinny guy). It still read my heart rate though, so I was fine with it. Do not freak out if it isn't giving a reading at first, it has a range that it reports that normally starts around or above 90 bpm.

This item simply does not work! Wet it as instructed, put it on as instructed, and the rower may or may not see your heart rate. If it does, sit down and row and it will acquire the chest strap heart rate and then moments later lose the connection. As you row, it will bounce back and forth between heart rate and zero so the rower will be confused as it tries to alter rowing resistance to keep you exercising at your desired heart rate.
I have used other chest straps on bicycles, treadmills, and other rowers before many times and never had any trouble. This product just does not work!

Noticed earlier complaint that footstrap loosens too easily. Spent $1.20 and got two strap clamp- downs that worked perfect. Cheap simple fix. Other than that it is a great machine.
